Hi, I’m Kat!
My yoga journey started back in 2012, during a time when I was juggling full-time work and school and looking for something to help me slow down. I explored different styles, but in 2016, I found Ashtanga—and from the first class, I was hooked. The structure, the discipline, the way it became a reset for my body and mind—it just made sense to me. Since then, I’ve practiced six days a week, no matter where life has taken me.
I’ve had the privilege of studying with incredible teachers along the way. I began my practice under Fiona Stang in Vancouver, then moved to Toronto, where I practiced for seven years under David Robson. His attention to precision and tradition deeply shaped both my practice and my approach to teaching. I’ve also made four trips to Mysore, India, to study at the source of Ashtanga, and I’m currently learning Advanced B (fourth series).
In 2021, I began teaching at Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Toronto, where I spent three years assisting students through Mysore-style classes, helping them build strong, sustainable practices. Teaching in a busy, dedicated shala taught me so much about the importance of individualized practice. While Ashtanga has a set structure, no two students experience it the same way, and I love helping people navigate the practice in a way that makes sense for their bodies and their lives.
Now, after moving to Norway in 2023, my own practice looks a little different. As a new mom, business owner, wife, and rescue dog-and-cat mom, home practice is my reality—and I know firsthand the challenges of staying consistent. Some days, my practice feels deep and focused; but most days, it’s squeezed in between family life — baby naps, playtime, dog walks, and everything in between. But that’s the beauty of it—this practice meets you exactly where you are, no matter what life looks like.
That philosophy truly shapes how I teach. I take a traditional approach, but I meet my students as individuals. I want to help you build a practice that is strong and sustainable—one that challenges you while also supporting you through all the seasons of life. Whether you’re an experienced Ashtangi or a new mom trying to navigate your way back to the mat, I’m here to help in any way I can.
